The early years- As the word got out, the nights got bigger, cocktails hit Dorset on a scale never seen before!! As our customers became our beloved Nookies, there was a definite buzz growing about a new soulful venue in the area, the bar just kept getting more crammed and the queue just kept getting bigger!..

Expansion!- Christmas 2016- So with the demand for more space we took the plunge and after purchase of a neighbouring business we knocked through and doubled in size! More seats, more staff, more cocktails and more dancefloor. This year also saw the release of the first Little Book of Nook Cocktail Menu.. things just got serious.. mixology, signature blends, house infused spirits… we had it all going down!!

Play that funky music!!! With Soul music always being at the heart of our venue, summer of 2017 we decided to double down and make a booking of a lifetime as we welcomed superstar DJ Norman Jay MBE, as the floor bounced, the roof lifted on a truly magical night which paved the way to The Nook being considered as the South West’s number one Soul and Disco music venue leading a Dorset vinyl revival growing stronger every weekend!!

Every cloud has a silver lining!! With the country and industry plunging into near devastation with COVID 19 and a national lockdown, the Nook managed to hold its nerve, adapt and quickly conceive a new business in the form of takeaway and delivery bottled cocktails- Cocktails2go, 30’000 + bottled drinks sold during the 3 month national lockdown! our achievements went on to be noticed within the industry firstly in the nomination then going on to the winning of a National Pub Award for Business Continuity, along with a new downstairs bar, a new hireable mobile cocktail horsebox and various pop up nights culminating in the opening of a second venue in the neighbouring town of Portland, 2020 has been quite a year to say the least!!
